Hey guys i am looking a lowering my car and at the same time i would like some firm suspension so my car ride is nice and smooth, now i have Lovell Superlow springs and i need shocks/struts for the car if i want a firm feeling what should i be looking for?
I would rather buy used and swap my Lovell Superlows for just lows if i can but i would like suspension on a budget ! Also are struts just shocks but for the front? because i get confused if i need struts or shocks lol ! (pretty silly i know) Also a bush kit what is it and will i need one ?

I would recommend buying new short heavy duty shocks, front and rear.
And yes, front struts, are similar to front shocks, but different. An EB11 has struts on the front and shocks on the rear. Look on Ebay for Ultima branded shocks. At around $140 a pair, they are a great budget priced item, with good performance as well. Cheers BenJ

What is really the difference of firm and soft suspension anyway ? I am just sick of my car bouncing and just want to feel nothing at all and have a car that feels like it hovers lol ! So i assume heavy duty is the way for me?

Oh so soft non heavy duty would be right for me than? Im getting confused because HD are Firm right?

Heavy Duty Short Stroke shocks with your super low springs will be a large improvement over standard length springs which will bottom out all the time when combined with super low springs.
The ride will be firm and responsive, instead of jarring. BenJ

I just dont wanna feel many bumps while driving because where i am there are alot of bumpy road so firm or soft?

If you want soft, run 15" rims with 215/60 tyres as a taller side wall is much more compliant. Throw away any lowered spring, and install standard springs back in.
You can't have it both ways. Lowered must be firm, and tall equals soft. Can't have low and soft. BenJ

My guess is that you have been running s'lows with the original or maybe older shocks that have seen better days. The s'low springs will make for a firmer/harsher ride and clapped out shocks will worsen the situation again. On my old EBII sedan I ran King Springs 'Lows' (about the same as XR height) with a combo of KYB Excel-G struts up front and Monroe GT Gas at the rear. (With Fords, we just call the front shocks "struts" because that is their design type, is all). These selections are in the mid price range. This combo was very comfy with 225/60/15 tyres on EF XR mags (7" wide). I later changed to 235/45/17 tyres on CSA mags (8" wide) and the ride was a bit harder, but still a good all rounder. A front camber kit and a decent wheel alignment made for an excellent handling car with a relatively comfy ride. Not as comfy as the standard springs, but 300% better handling is preferable. Nothing beats a good and carefully selected combo of springs and shocks. Spend the money..........it's worth it. |

On my ED sedan, I run EL XR6 springs, Pedders GSR shockies, Whiteline sway bars, and 15x7 rims shod with 235/60R15's.
