i finally got around to lowering my el xr6 last weekend. put king super lows and koni adjustables (yellow) all round. AWESOME is the only way to describe how well it handles, ive got a lot more confidence and feel in the front end. i went for a quick drive through the adelaide hills, and i loved how quickly i caught up to the traffic in front of me. the only regret i have is not doing it sooner

it's like that hey.
Suspension work is one of the best 'investments' you can make. Big rubber is a godsend too. Full whiteline kit, superlows + KYB, 235x17's all round.

Good stuff mate!! Ive been wanting to lower my el xr8 ever since i had it, about 4.5 months now, but am kinda scared - i want it to stay legal (100mm ground clearance) & i dont want it to bottom out.. Whats the ground clearance on yours with that setup? Also, how much did that setup cost ya? Cheers buddy. |

Mine was $2200 supplied and fitted, fully legal, and very drivable. No 'wog crawl' for me. Some driveways (those dodgy 45° ones) need careful approach. But other than that, very driveable, and no problems. I go on regular cruises, and mountain climbs. Nothing quiet like fang'n around a national park completly ignoring the 'advisory' (yellow) speed signs.

That 100mm ground clearance is with 1 (I think it might be 2 actually) 70kg people in the car when the clearance is measured. I know this because I have had to go through the ordeal of getting a car certified by an engineer. Mine scraped in at near 90mm with the sack of sand in the driver's seat. |

TIKFORD - i just had koni's installed (red's) and koni springs installed by the blokes at topeformance in vermont down here. they setup my car based for handling and put superlows on the front and lows on the back with 10mm spacers.
they reckon its better for handling to have the "raked" look with more travel in the back. gotta say, the handling is infinitely better than what it was previously, considering i was 10mm off the bump stops! how do the superlows all round go? do they ride nice while looking good? cos i gotta say, the ride is fantastic on mine, however it looks like it rides a little high. apparantly they take a while to "settle" down.. maybe another 5mm or so...

yeah the ground clearance is good so far, but im still waiting for the suspension to drop a bit more. but as long as im careful over speed humps i should be ok. i got the konis for $900, springs for $104 a pair, i also got new strut tops and rubbers to keep the new struts together for $85. being a mechanic i installed it all myself, which helped in keeping the cost down. might go get a wheel alignment in a week or so.

I got a quote from Ian Diffen World Of Tyres for a suspension upgrade yesterday. It's a big price.
Kings low springs 4 shockers don't know brand Camber and Castor kits and a set of 4 205/15's tyres only for a sum of $1600. That's to drop it 35mm, and theres no trailing arms or swaybars in that price. While were at it, what do you guys know of Whiteline springs and Selby swaybars? |

That doesn't sound too bad if it includes the $400/500 worth of tyres. My suspension kit alone was $2,200 no wheels/tyres.

How far did they drop your car? I'm guessing 50mm? We need some more pictures of your car dude! I'd like to get the trailing arms and and sway bar from Selby too. Maybe in the future. Hopefully it's going to be a great year for my car. Bad for my pocket though. I really wouldn't mind a port polish and new cam for the her aswell. |

You must have cried when you saw the rear pillar like that when you slammed into a pole! No pics of the rear bar where someone was nice enough to push me into the pole (wet, roundabout, canberra - nuff said). But no major damage, bent steelie, rear quarterpanel, and back window. The light pole fell over the back window.
