hey all

just looking to upgrade my swaybar - not sure which way to go though - EL GT or whiteline? i've heard top things about whiteline, but haven't heard much about the EL GT ones - is it worth the extra $$$ to go whiteline? i'm running KYB shocks/Lovell superlow springs/camber kit on 235/45/17's and just looking for better handling :)

I got the whiteline 32mm its great

Look at upgrading the rear too....im currently suffering massive understeer

well just called up fraud:

EL GT front swaybar: $78.45
EL GT rear swaybar: $375.40

so - lol won't be grabbing the rear one, but the front one looks like a good deal for the price! it'll be ordered from over east for me. i'm not looking for anything over the top, as i don't drive the car that hard - so from what i've read the EL GT one should be sufficient for my needs! :wink:

ok yes 29mm is good, may as well go with that it is a good price compared to the whiteline bar

I've got whiteline's front and rear, they are bigger than the GT's (as already said).

Damn didn't realise the rear ones were that expensive.

i was quoted 300 or so for a whiteline rear bar but im not so sure that was accurate

pulling out my trusty old recipt from whiteline...
$171.82 each for front and rear swaybars with bushes.

Personally i would highly recomend getting the whiteline... and both of them

i think the 300 is for adjustable and 170 for non-adjustable.

ugly get in touch with 'spork' i think he has a el gt front bar, i thik he said it is almost a perfect street set up.

So whats the advantage of the adjustable one? What effect does the adjustment have and how noticeable is it?

I've got the adjustable one, offers three settings of 'stiffness' I run day to day on the medium setting, offers good comfort (as much as can be expected with super lows, 17" rims) and good all round performance. The lowest settings, is even softer, but doesn't offer the performance I want. The hard is great for track days (where the surface is very good quality) but is not fun for day to day going to/from work.

Of course hard settings adjusts your steering ability. giving you more over or under steer depending which way you adjust.

Yeah I have the GT swaybar. I would have to say it's a great cheap upgrade.

On the track it generates mild understeer, most evident at around 100Km/h+ corners.

On the road it stops that tail happy response most falcons have and gives you confidence to go harder into corners with less chance of snap oversteer. Was a worthwhile improvement on my car. For $70 you can't go wrong.

Note you cant get 28mm bushes to suit the bar, ford just used the 27mm RUBBER (not nothane it is not flexible enough) ones on the GT and they work with no problem.

If you have the cash I think a better setup would be the non-adjustable whiteline 32mm front and the adjustable rear. Then you can tune the oversteer/understeer to what you want. Although if you don't go to the track it wouldn't be worth it.

thanks guys.

yep the car doesn't & won't be going on the track at all - doesn't really hold much interest for me! :P but i just want improved handling for daily driving - so it would seem the EL GT one is sufficient for what i need :wink:
