I am keen to fit a 4.11LSD in my AUII VCT Ghia, but not if i have to manually switch the stupid traction control off every time i jump in the car

has anyone managed to find a way to disable permanently with no side effects from the ECU having a fit about it?

btw, flash tune is out of the question if that is a possible answer....

^^^ That's correct - my understanding is it cut's the injectors, so obviously on factory LPG, they'll be no effect.
So what's the switch setup - I'm assuming it's a momentary type, e.g. like the demister.

yeah momentary

the traction control in my AU is absolute crap............ not really wanting to spend $1500 on the diff, just to have to switch off that pesky TC setup everytime i get in the car to make it worthwhile

Probably the only quick idea I have is to put a relay across the traction switch (pins 30 & 87), and it's coil controlled by something that is only on momentary during startup, but just a tad longer - e.g. seat belt light.
That way you can still use the switch, and the traction should be switched off - and the seat belt light will be on for a short time after start.
I'm assuming traction is on by default on startup, hence that slight lag with the relay control just to make it look like the switch is pressed after start.
This is only theory mind you.

the traction control works on the same principal as the abs, it uses the abs wheels as reference..
disabling the abs will dissable the traction control, not an ideal solution though....

One Shot timer based on a 555ic. Im sure that Jaycar have a simple kit for that. (simple timer)

You want a 15 second or so countdown, then a pulse, then nothing. 15 seconds just so the ecu gets a chance to do its thing first (although Im sure 3 seconds might work too)

Series 1 AU's dont have traction control (Well my series 1 futura didnt anyway), find out whats different between them and the Series 2 and make the changes.

One other thing i noticed with fords is they tend to use the same main harness in all models but add to it to get to fairmont's, futura's etc. For example, on the au falcon with only a drivers side airbag the circuit for the passenger side airbag is still there, but the computer is fooled into thinking there is a second airbag by putting in a resister which creates the exact same amount of resistance as the actual airbag.

Maybe there is something similar with the traction control?

Actually all AU Ghias have traction control.

FordFairmont, keep it and bring it up to the same level as your EF. :D

hmm some ideas there, thanks

stupid question, when the button is pressed, how kind of voltage is passed through for the signal? i like snaps idea of getting the signal from somewhere else, but like nigel said the ecu might need a few more seconds to 'do its thing' so maybe the timer idea might have a better chance

i was hoping to just a cut a wire

spend thousands on it, then sell it for $3000, wait for the value AU3 XR8's to drop and start again?...... hmm maybe
