Just wondering if a 4spd auto from a TE50 or AU /EL XR8 will fit straight into an NL V8 fairlane without having to change the ECU or the auto's so called computer which i didn't even know about until today. Need to know so that I don't pay $2000 for an exchange unit.

the au v8 box should bolt straight up, the pins and connectors are all the same.
as for the 6 probably not due to the different size in the end shaft thingy. as for the shift points and crap, they are controlled by the ecu so if you get a TE50 box the shifts will be the same as your old box. but at least it could be a little stronger than the old one due to possible internals bein strengthened. the reason why people on here didn't reply is because they f**k don't know the answer or couldn't be f**k. ring an auto gearbox place, they'll look after ya
