Hi,

As some of know i have been getting parts together to convert my EB to manual.

My car was originaly an EB S1 with a 3.9L MPFI 4spd Auto, i put a EL Tickford in it 2 years ago.

Tonight i went to test fit my new clutch onto the fly wheel and it wouldnt fit!!! The new pressure plate cover is larger than the old one and none of the three bolts fit. Also i have dowell holes but no protuding dowels in the pressure plate cover into whic these sit, is that normal? The new pressure plate cover has 6 bolts.

I rang the guy who supplied me the clutch and he said that i have an EA flywheel, i was told of Ebay it was an EL box, flywheel etc- i got jipped :(

He also said i can swap my clutch to an EA one but he recommended i get an EL flywheel to match my EL Tickford 4.0L. Will i have any issues with the starter motor location? (i dont think so but he suggested i might)

What about the box?

So my question is what should i do? Should i get a Later model flywheel?

Thanks guys,

Clint

throw a pic up or link to the eBay item, we'll tell you what box it is if looking at the LHS.

I'd get a 6 bolt flywheel, suits a stronger clutch plate (less chance of forgiveness) on the housing.

Yeah from memory that's correct; EA flywheels are smaller. An EL one should be fine to bolt on.

EA-EB box.

yes. just grab an EF flywheel and throw the clutch on.

It'll cost more to redrill the flywheel to suit the clutch.

two options,??
i would try find a 6 bolt ef/el flywheel..this would be the best option as you already have the ef/el clutch.. and you can get a ef flywheel cheaper than a new ea clutch..

otherwise you can fit a hd ea clutch, while the ef/el clutch is a better option you can still get away with using the ea one (im pushing 200rwkw through a hd 3 bolt ea clutch and its currently holding up fine..)

Hi guys, i was away for easter, now i can reply to your posts.

Ok no worries so i can just change the flywheel, that sounds great! :D

I was talking to my dad over easter and he suggested i get another automatic, put a hi-stall converter in it an a decent shift kit- what are you guys thoughts on this? He suggested not having too higher stall, maybe around 2500rpm is this stupid for a daily driver?

I do have to drive through peak hour traffic for one hour everyday to and from work...

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Thanks,
Clint

Personal preference really. If you're in peak hour traffic often, a manual is annoying!
