I jumped in the falcon the other day to go for a drive just after i had been driving it, and noticed when i put it in reverse, it got stuck in the reverse and 5th section of the box and was incredibly difficult to manage it back so i could use 1st 2nd 3rd and 4th again.

this happened to my last gearbox i had in the car but it would get stuck in fourth mainly, but also other gears too cant remember which tho. i thought it was bung so i got another for $100 wacked it in now its done the same thing.

Today i pulled down the old gearbox and all the gears looked fine so im guessing its just the gear selector mechanism? yes, no? i will say tho in input and out shaft bearings are MUNTED!

ALL HELP VERY MUCH APPRECIATED !!!

cheers Jack

its fine selecting the gears, clutch is fine because its only 1000km's old if that.

It doesn't get stuck in the gear it gets stuck around fifth and reverse and feels really vague as in i cant find neutral at all and is really stiff to move the gear stick.

i think it just time for a t56 if i can afford it. anymore help tho would be great

cheers Jack

The brass rings are the same - both will most likely be worn with the teeth, but your problem is with the shifting as they use the same shifter fork. Might be the detent at the base of the gear shifter.
That article sums it up well, though.

also if you have a t5 gearbox (unfortunetly like this guy said the synchros) There is a pretty reasonably priced manual kit (short throw) for those boxes thats quoted to protect your syncros from damage and improve shift time between gears by 40%...

I just can't remember where i saw it (which is damn annoying as i wanna get one myself)
