Hey guys can get a T5 gearbox for $150ono and the guy said sychro's between 2 and 3 gear just need changing, how hard are they to change?

Just wondering...how good are you with mechanical repairs? I've seen plenty of people pull things apart and stuff up the reassembly. :roll:

I think you need a press to remove one of the input/output bearings. If you replace the synchros, you might as well do all the bearings while it's apart. Have you allowed for chipped/worn gears & a worn input shaft? With shims, you need to get the clearances right. Have you got tools to check the tolerances?

Ok. I was thinking of doing the same thing instead of relying on transmission specialists. Maybe you can do a tech document on rebuilding it.
