Can anyone positively identify the origin of these T5's by their Id tags please:

1) Id: 0552-003
2) Id: 0552-004

I think the -003 is from an EA / 3.9L and the -004 is from and EB-ED / 4.0L but need this confirmed as the ratios are different and I want to know what I've got.

My info is that the EA box ratios are: 1st - 3.50, 2nd - 2.14, 3rd - 1.39, 4th - 1.00, 5th - 0.78 / and the EB-ED gets 1st - 3.25, 2nd - 1.99, 3rd - 1.29, 4th - 1.00, 5th - 0.72. If anyone knows better, could you please post your numbers.

Thanks.

Yep, those ratios look correct.

EA to EB1 got the 'EA' box, and EB11 onwards had the World Class box.

I have the EA box behind an EL engine in my EB1, and combined with a 3.23 diff gives a good combination of go and cruise.

Cheers

SOrry to thread hijack OP; but while we are on this subject I have a question.

How do I tell if the gearbox I have at home is a T5 from AU1/AU2 XR8 or a T5z from a AU3 XR8? Will the ID be different? If so what are the two ID's for these boxes.

Cheers.
