my auto gearbox is f**k..and i want to convert it to manual.

is there any difference between the ef/el t5 and the ea eb ed t5? im gathering there is.. but just wanted to know some specs on them and get your opinion on which one to shove in.

and where's the best place to find one. iv been checking out ebay but there just a tad on the expensivre side.do u know how much wreckers are charging?im thinkin about goin to an auction and just getting a whole car for cheap and rip the gearbox, pedals, etc out..and save the rest for spares.

Any Ford Falcon 6cyl borg warner T5 will fit, XF,XG,XH EA-ED EF-EL

Best to get a EB2-EL T5 these have a 3.25:1 first gear ratio and are
considered a World class box.

EA-EB1 will work fine, however some claim them to be weaker. and have a tall 3.5:1 first.
They have a slight bearing difference, reverse spring setup and some other bits im not gonna mention cos its a touchy subject.

Probably known to be weaker as they're older in general.

I sold a EF box last week for $180 (good gears and runs, but would be better to redo the bearings) Some people fetch 450ish just for an EA box condition unknown and with 450,000k's and they get it.

Yes, you'll need flywheel, clutch, bell housing, pedalbox (or malwood pin) throwout fork blah blah blah!

don't be affraid of EA boxes, they're fine. if you get one cheap, who cares? if its bad/noisey, then at least u can spend the $$ on a good one and be happy.

Ive got the EA box fitted and first gear is really quick and combined with a 3.23 diff ratio will keep up with EF box with 3.45 diff

If your looking at fitting shorter diff gears in the future, then go the later model boxes as EA boxes already have a very short first gear and would prolly drive like a truck.

Regardless im still getting 3.7's fitted so hopefully 1st wont be toooo bad :)
