Hi guys, a few weeks ago my clutch let go and i finally got around to pulling out the box only to find the shaft casing has been destroyed. I was wondering if anyone here has a wrecked gearbox they may be willing to pull this part off and sell to me, as i haven't had much luck with the wreckers.

I found these online http://www.latemodelrestoration.com/pro ... -Retainers but have no idea if they are the same things because they seem to be a different length.

Here's a pic so you guys can see what i'm talking about

It's in my 95 EF Falcon, i bought this car off another owner who had already done the conversion and didn't think to ask what it came out of. I'll find some numbers on it tomorrow and figure that one out.

one from an XF to EL will bolt straight on, not sure if one from a T5Z (AU onwards) will bolt on.

I'm pretty sure any Ford T5WC (EB2 onwards) bearing retainer will fit.
Spend a little extra money and get a steel one from the states.

Check the throwout bearing retainer, make sure the whole bearing isn't spinning on the fork.

As above, there are a few threads on here with a few US link sites - retainers are pretty cheap from memory - a few members on here have bought them.

You can still get them from ford here in AUS, but be prepared for a shock! Not cheap at all. You could buy probably 3 & pay shipping from the US.

Retainers do wear out, but never seen one like that myself. What was the bearings on the input shaft like? What about the clutch?

You gotta be careful not to drop parts into the box when you remove the retainer & input shaft.

Cheers

Yeah, damage like that means something a bit out of the ordinary - IIRC there were a few guys on here (Wicksy, etc)with manual conversions done by AltedXR6 (or Alted) a long time ago, and I think the clutches were adjusted wrong, the throwout bearing was very firm against the pressure plate - they had pics very similar to yours.
The throwout bearing can seize up - so best check and replace if in doubt.

Sorry for taking so long to get back to you guys, from looking at the link you posted i seem to have a non-wc version. The throwout bearing is seized and clutch is wrecked, already have replacements to go in.

Still not 100% sure on which casing to get in that link, i'm worried it won't be the right one.

On the side of the box it has Borg Warner 13-52-065-908
