My T5 crunches into 4th, and 2nd and 3rd are a bit chattery, have been told by the trans joint round the corner from work, that they cant replace 4th syncro ring. The have to do all Syncro Rings and bearings. Just wondering if anyone has bought a rebuild kit in aus and for what price. or am i best to do so from the U.S where they seem cheap ?? Or take my chances with a 2nd hand box ?Any help would be appreiciated.

I recently got one from "The Gear Box" located in America. Total cost was $398 delivered to my door, the kit is a Genuine Tremec/Borg Warner factory kit with every thing in it, bearings,syncros,bushes,c-clips,snap rings, all seals and more. Ask for the Flat rate box postage around $45, the web site only offers a $70 option, good people to deal with and was delivered in under a week.

Or have a chat with John Cerini from Cerini motorsports, he has personally built many boxes for top racing teams and supplied me with all the info and parts required to rebuild my T5Z, was extremely well priced, were all genuine Tremec bit's and shipping very quickly.

I would also recommend adding a billet cluster reinforcement plate if you are going to rebuild your box.

About $45, but well worth it. Much better than the stamped steel factory part.

There are no gaskets in a T5 box.

He's s**t you then. Either that or he means a tube of sealant.

I recently rebuilt my T5 and i can tell you, the only "gasket" anywhere in the box, is the tail shaft driveshaft seal. The rest is just that tube black sealant.

Good price then, so around $200/250 for labour to rebuild the box.
