Hey guys

Been seeing a lot of these billet short/rip shifters getting around lately and wanted to see what experiences people have had with them, i know what they do and how they work, i just wanted to see if people noticed the difference, or made it much easier. I'm usually pretty quick and precise through the gears anyway however 3rd will catch me out everynow and again. Also like they look pretty easy to but wanetd to see if anyones had dramas with them.
Cheers guys

Big improvement over stock IMO.
I wouldn't go back.
Try and jump in someone elses car that has one, just to feel what its like before you buy one, would be my suggestion.

Pretty easy to install, bit fiddly but not hard.
Just have to drop the gearbox a bit to get it down low enough to get the bolts.
Depending on brand, some will need a bit of clearance work to the tunnel to fit the positive stops.

There's so many different brands of them. Personally I reckon the UPR is the best value for money (it's the one that I have) - positive stopes, 2 different length short shafts (you can still use the longer stock 1 if you like). There essentially a copy of the Steeda ones. I got mine for less than $200.00 including postage.

I've had a steeda short shifter and then I upgraded to a Billet Short Shifter.
The Billet one is the way to go. Positive feel and easy shifts.

I've got a steeda in mine with a short a** stick. probably moves 2 inches thru the gears.

I got it for less than a hundred bux posted off this forum a long while back, very good bang for buck mod.

I cut the trans tunnel when I fitted mine, fk lowering the gearbox. I figured that if I could cut it with tinsnips then it wasnt structural. bent it back down, and sikaflexed over the cuts.

rip shifter + short stick = best mod for an enthusiast.

Thanks for for all the help guys, I think i will go with a billet one like timmeh recomended as i have found most people to use them, i think they retail fro around $299 which isn pretty reasonable if you ask me, i did see one from a brand called ripshift and they were asking $499 for theirs, with claims of having australias fastest short shifter, hahahaha i'll def be llokin at billet.

I went from a Billet short shifter to a Ripshift and to me the Ripshift was worth every cent! I had nothing but problems with the Billet one and the guys there, as helpful as they were, had no answers for it. But I haven't heard of anyone having issues on the t5 with the billet shifter

I swapped my standard s**t shifter for a Steeda shortshifter. Awesome deal seeing how my first one cost me $150...

Its a great mod IMO. Helps cover up a dodgy gearbox too :P
