Hey I just picked up a EF XR6 and I was wondering if anyone knew any info on changing from a T5 to an auto. Any info would be great.

Not for for me to know why you would do such a thing, but if you're serious....read the "auto to manual" conversion guides by "voxace" and "Froudey" then reverse all the procedures. You will definitely need a spigot bearing and bush puller, an EF auto ecu, gearbox wiring harness, gearbox, torque converter, auto pedal box, probably a tailshaft, auto gearshift assembly, t/fluid cooler pipes, auto radiator and many other items.
You obviously don't realise how huge this job would be. IMO, a waste of time and money, sell it at a profit and buy an auto. Depending on the state of the the auto box, the above costing already exceeds $2000, without labour, oils or tools. You would get some of this back by selling of your T5, ECU and pedal box, but not much. I hope you have someone with a lot of experience to help you, there are probably some members here who would swap a very good auto for a manual XR6, something to consider any way.
Paul

Hey there mate, recently i paid $1000 for a T5 transmission and near new exedy clutch inc installation from auto to T5 by a prof mechanic, im sure the reverse conversion would be the same.

Look for a mechanic on the forums here that will do a cash job and source an auto from somewhere, once you sell the manual, buy the auto tranny and pay for labour ($300 odd) you wont be out much.

Im sure it can be done :)
Matt

Im pretty sure some people out there would swap their auto for a manual for free.

Good for both people, both can test out each others boxes! (ohh the mechanical ones!)
