Ok here we go again, I couldn't find this anywhere so i have started a thread, when it's answered feel free to wipe it.
First question: I have a T5 loom with speedo plug, and 2 pairs of female connectors, but my V8 T5 only has the speedo sender and one pair of Male connectors, on the left hand side. So I'm guessing the left hand side plug is the reverse sender, brings me back to the loom, what pair of females do i plug onto this? and does it matter if i just leave the other pair hanging? See pic. Second Question: I just bought a shoft shifter for my T5, have installed it, but, it came with a whole load of extra screws and funny threaded things, instead of me babbling on, this pic explains it all! Why do i put these screws in? how far do i put them in? does it matter if i don't put them in? Third question: How the hell do i remove that bastard TCM?! it's impossible to get hands let alone tools up in there to take the nuts off, i managed to get the bottom two off, but not the top one.

They are your shift stops.
You put those in and adjust them so you can select each gear properly, then tighten the nut to lock it in place. You do this so you can slam your gear changes without worrying about damaging the shift forks in the gearbox. |

with the wiring on the t5.
the 2 plugs close to the speedo drive plug are for the reverse lights and the other 2 are for the neutral switch that is near the top pasenger side front of the gear box |

The other wires that would normally go on the neutral switch will need to be connected so that the car will crank over. I would also suggest that you wire up the car so that it will only start with the clutch pushed in. Otherwise the car will drive away from you if you start it in gear.

BenJ so i can just solder the other two neutral wires together?

it doesnt matter as they are only there to tell your ecu if its in gear or not...
the car will still start if there not connected.. mine neutral switch wires are pluged into the switch in the box but not connected to the engine bay loom.. so dont worry about them... |

ok sweet, might take the seat out so i can get in there more, They always seem to put stupid s**t like that in stupid places, for example the trans loom plug is right behind my inlet manifold. good thing i'm taking that off!
You know you want a short shifter now! i tested it out, just sitting in the shed, moves really nice, and they aren't kidding when they say "Short" shifter

I'm frothing at the mouth trying to get the car going, still waiting on injectors. does the J3 eliminate the need for your trans comp cause your using your auto ECU? How much is that stinging you?

I took the trans comp out a while back when i put the EL ecu in, cos the EL ecu's run the trans aswell, and yeah the chip will make it a manual ecu for $130, I can make it xr6 tune or whatever, pretty sweet really!
