Ive just lowered the back of my el a bit more and when i accelerate hard the tailshaft bottoms out on the underbody of the car. Atm ive put in ultralows, as im not too keen in raising my car i was wondering if there was anything that could be done. I know theres a bump stop u can get that sits above the diff but i doubt that would help. Currently im also running stock new shocks as they were already replaced by previous owner not even 6 months ago i didnt bother buying shortened shocks.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a solutiont?

Firstly it must be illegally low! anyways you can try shorter upper control arms like on the XR's they should be shorter than the ones you have on now (137mm) that should tilt the diff forward a little to pull down the rear of the driveshaft. The car should have bump stops in unless you have removed them.

The tailshaft wil be hitting the floorpan just behind the gearbox. You can either beat the floorpan in a few mm with a hammer or put a thick washer between the gearbox crossmember and the underbody. You dont need to drop it much to make a big difference.

if you have standard shocks on a setup with ultra lows, there lays half of your problem.

Ive already got xr arms that fixes the angle of the diff and stops the diff from grinding when loaded up. However it has not solved the hitting problem.
The car doesnt have a bump stop. The bumpstop above the diff only came on tickford optioned cars, xr's and so on. I will be buying one of those shortly to see if it fixes it. Was just wondering if there was anything else out there..

Also im leaning towards the fact the shocks are fine as the car never bottoms out anywhere.. shocks dont bottom out just the tailshaft hits when you accelerate hard from a standing still position seems like a pretty weird problem...
Id try the washer idea but it seems mine is hitting right at the back just before the diff... so i dont think that would help much in my case.

i'd definately be fitting a tailshaft loop just incase it decides to let go!

This is true although if i dont figure this problem out within a few weeks i will be forced to raise it. Id like to buy a tailshaft loop anyway seems like a fairly smart thing to have on your car.

Check where it is hitting - i think you will find it will be where I said, just behind the gearbox. That is where the tailshaft is closest to the floorpan.
Mine was hitting there under full throttle as well with superlows and larger diameter tailshaft (and I had the proper shockers as well).

Max, you do need new shockers in the rear.
Trust me, I sat in the backseat the other day! Get better shocks, cause at the moment it's underdamped and it's just bucking everywhere. That'll help a bit IMO. Dunno whether it'll stop it completely, but itll make the car handle better anyway, and be more comfortable for people in the back!!!

mine was doing the exact same thing....it ended up being the lower trailing arm bushes...because they were worn they were causing excessive movement....the diff was actually twisting up towards the floor as power was being put into it....
