Hey all,

Have an EL Futura and my tailshaft seems to be hitting the floor of my car. :(
It is lowered on king springs superlows.

I recently changed my upper trailing arms to EL XR items which took away the vibration i was getting from the tailshaft but now have the problem of the tailshaft hitting the floor.

How do i stop this?

I had the same problem when i fitted the XR upper trailing arms. I went back to the stock trailing arms and put up with the slight vibration. I would rather a slight vibration than a failed driveshaft from hitting the floor.

Yeh might have to put the standard arms back in.

It only happens when I accelerate moderately hard, happens more and worse with a full car too.

Oh and I'm not bashing the floor pan. LOL

But I rang a suspension place and they told me replacing upper and lower trailing arm bushes would fix it.

Would that fix it?

yeah if the ones on there are old and soft then new ones would help. take your stock ones into pedders or somewhere and get new bushes fitted (nolathane) and while your at it get new shocks in the rear to stop the back from dropping soo low when you hit the "go" peddel.

Just get the XR bump stop for around $10 from ford to stop it hitting.

This is new to me too.

If there is a slightly different sized bump stop in the XR range I want them!.

I knew this would solve the issue I have, but.. im getting old and don't thrash much anymore, so the tail shaft still has paint on it.

So i'm not the only one with this problem!

My tail shaft has been hitting on the odd occasion for the last couple mths. My rear upper & lower arm bushes are shagged, i know for a fact. I have just had my upper arm's debushed & will be fitting nolathanes to them, then i've gotta do the lowers. Hoping that fixes it.

I'm sure i'm only running Kings Lows. Not Super Lows. But i do have a gas tank in the boot.

I have pedders white shocks to suit lowered springs & new bump stops from pedders, as my old bump's were shagged as well. Hoping for good weather this w/e to swap my upper arms.

Cheers

ToranaGuy

Look up from the diff pinion and you should see two holes on the body, it bolts on there.

Ok so i went to fraud, and askd about the XR bump stops. The guy said they were a sports/police suspension option and there were 2 for around $13ea.

Are these the one's you're talking about?

Also my car is an OPT20 so it would have these bumpstops right?

He means the one in the centre of the car/diff right above where the pinion gear is (about 15cm back from where the tailshaft meets the diff). Hence so under acceleration or a heavy load the diff will bottom out on the bump stop before the tailshaft hits the floor.
