buy cheaper 17" wheels and properly lower your car. it will handle better then 18" with cut springs.

Why is it that a "professionally" lowered spring with the same number of coils is less likely to fall out than a cut spring? Presumably they are both the same (short) length?
BTW: Cutting a spring will effectively stiffen your suspension, but it doesn't alter the spring rate (that's fixed per coil - assuming a linear spring). It's a simple concept. If you have an 8 coil spring that moves 1mm per coil when you put 10kg on it (total 8mm), then if you cut one coil off, it will only move 7mm. |

shorter springs is not it.. there the same height but when the weight of the car is on them they compress a little more in the first few coils (the car then sits lower)
8 coils with 1mm movement.... think of it this way you have 1.5 tonn sitting on a spring with the load spread over 8 coils, if you remove those coils (for example 2) you will be left with 6 and those 6 now have to hold up the 1.5 tonn which will give them 2-3mm travel per coil another way is get a slab of concrete, 8 people lift it up, now remove 2 and see if everyone can still hold it up at the same height. |

just so that everyone knows, there is a chance that the insurance wont cover below super supper lows (ultra lows) or even super lows because there designed primarily cosmetic use which could render your car illegal.
an we all no that a crash with an unroad worthy car voids the inssurance thats just my 2 bobs worth, what ever way you go make sure to post pics

Your analogy isn't the same scenario. You would need to get 8 (REALLY STRONG**) people to stand on each others shoulders (not side by side) to lift up the slab. Then remove two people. If all the people had the same amount of sag in their arms and legs, there would be less total sag with 6 people than with 8. Another analogy is to think of the spring coils of matresses. If you jump on 3 mattreses laying on top of each other - it will be much spongier than jumping on one matress. **So don't use Holden drivers |
