I wanna lower my car, im thinkin of just cuttin the springs down because lowering with new springs is like 400 bucks and im not prepared to pay that but if i cut them i know ill have "spongier" (sp?) suspension but is it a big deal?
also im getting 18" rims later on and that makes it a little hard determining how far to lower the car.... i mean the rims a bigger but im getting lower profile tyres, therefore should i just lower it as as low as i want with the current wheels i have on there now

Superlow springs should only be about $200-$250 at the most.
Also cut springs voids insurance. |

Just wait until you can do it properly. Its not worth putting yourself and others at risk just so you can have a lowered car.

No. Fit it youself. Just need spring compressors.
Then on top of that a wheel alignment. |

timmeh is right, or pay $500 fitted
why be cheap and cut you springs when you plan on spending 1000's on wheels? |

its true dude ive heard of people killing themselves by having cut springs on their car. if you go on a rough bump in some cases the springs when cut on some cars can come out or come out of place causing a stack because their length is cut.

Ture mate! If you cut the springs it'll look good but handle in a bad way and do things that you are not prepared for. This is because the spring compression rate has changed. For example, if your factory springs have 8 coils and you cut 1 out the compression rate changes cos it takes less to compress them. The replacement coils will still have 8, they will just be closer together, therefore the spring compression rate doesn't change but the car is lower. Besides cutting springs is something you do on a Commodore cos its full sik mate!!!

yeah if your cutting springs you have to remove the springs anyways... so u remove springs cut them then replace them, why not pay 120 a pair (240 total) and pull your springs out and replace them and NOT cut them... your doing less work (no need to cut anything) and you will be safe and legal

And it will handle properly

Do it right the first time mate. Saves time and money. In the end you'll be happier with the result when done properly.

The reason you lower the car is for better and safer handling......cutting springs does the opposite, plus it is highly illegal, voids insurance and green slip, and is dangerous to yourself and passengers and the people around you....would hate to see your springs come out while breaking hard or swerving to avoid a collision.
For the price of springs (cheap compared to rims etc etc etc) they are great value and will make your car feel saver and corner better than ever!!!! Plus easy to install, done it many times on many cars over the years........ Plus you will learn something about your car while you are doing it, and you will see the results and know that you done the job.... |
