dude your going to get shot if you keep mentioning the "resistor trick". apparently its s**t it tricks your car into thinking its running colder hence giving it more fuel but the ecu eventually learns a way around it and re adjusts itself back again. by what the guys are saying on here dont bother with it.

no hes asking for the resistor mod for using an auto ecu to make it work work with a manual.... so it finds reverse and neutral as well as making the fans not run contiuously.

Dima will b able to help and there was a post on here about 2 days ago that asked the same thing

For cars that don't come with ECU controlled fans (ie. pre EF) - the resistor mod is simply to make the ECU think the car is in neutral - if it thinks the trans is in drive - which is the result when the transmission loom is disconnected - it "idles up".

The wiring to your auto transmission will consist of a big round connector up near the back of the intake manifold, and from memory I think a rectangular connector - again up near the back of the intake manifold. Now, the big round connector is the transmission control wiring - this ends up hanging disconnected once the manual conversion has been done and it's into this that you put the resistor.

The other connector is the wiring for the speedo sensor, neutal drive switch and reverse light - and is in fact identical to a manual car!!! - ie. when you do your manual conversion, make sure you get the manual Gearbox wiring loom - this loom will connect straight into that rectangular connector and you'll instantly have reverse light, speedo and neutral drive (altho the latter doesn't seem to work on my car - ie. it will crank when in gear - so either the switch in the box is buggered or the wiring for that does need some modification or reversal - is minor problem).

The value of the resistor I don't recall I'm afraid.

In EF and onward then I think there's a second resistor required as in addition to the tranny in drive signal issue, the disconnected connector also makes the ECU think the auto box is overheated so makes the fans run.
