Hey guys,

Coming home from work today on the freeway, go to overtake and lotsa free revs but no go....finally have to say good bye to the old clutch.

I've picked up a PBR heavy duty for under $500 and a mate and I are doing the replacement to save a little coin.

I got a massive favour to ask tho.. If anyone has a workshop manual for an AU1 XR8, would it be possible for you to scan and email me the few pages concerning the clutch replacement? We can do it easy but its nice to have the reference there. And before anyone goes and calls me cheap, I would have bought one today but when they cost as much as that its gonna have to wait, NYE only 1 sleep away.

So yeah, if anyone can be bothered it would be greatly appreciated.

Also, anything to look out for or be careful with doing the swap?

Cheers

Make sure you have the flywheel machined or you will probably have shuddering problems and vibrations

Check the pedal box for any signs or cranking around the clutch pedal pivot point because using a heavier clutch than factory can cause it to break.
I know because I had to reinforce the pedal box in my XR6 when a heavier clutch was used it broke the spot welds and cracked the metal and the clutch would no longer fully engage because the pedal would not move far enough.

Best to get someone to mig weld it up now before it causes any grief.

Thats the one. Spoke to a few mechanics and that was the unanimous decision.

If in Brisbane try Nicks Clutch Service at Archerfield. Got clutch with 2600lbs pressure(mustang I think) and billett steel flywheel for my AU1 XR8. Great service and a great clutch,no more shudder!
