It is time for a new clutch for the xr6, what brands do people recomend? Should I put in a heavy duty clutch and do they make heavy duty clutches as direct replacments with out having to drill and tap holes in the fly wheel. As the motor is stock I am thinking just a direct replacement would be the go. What do they cost approx. Also should I have the flywheel machined.

Flywheel MUST be machined (otherwise you will get plenty of slippage)
I would recommend a heavy duty unit (especially if you plan on future mods). Don't get a factory one though. They are nearly twice as dear as an aftermarket one. Source an aftermarket one. Hope this helps |

i've just gone through this. i had one reply to my thread (thanks voxace!). I've gone with xtreme. when i went to have a look and see what was recommended to me, i say what an RPM clutch did to a commo flywheel, and i didn't really want my flywheel in 1000 pieces. it will be installed in 2 weeks, i'll let you know what it's like

PBR XR6 clutches (factory fitment clutch) can be had for less than $250 if you ask.
And I've seen them hold upto 165rwkw on a particular car, flogged to the s**t everyday of its life. It was the one clutch that didnt fail in this blokes car. I've used them on every T5 conversion I've done so far, and have never failed me. |

ok guys I have called around for clutches & prices but I am a little confused at the moment. I can get a PBR clutch for $528 which is heavy duty or I can get a standard replacement for $349 which is an exceedy.
Now my next question, I have seen one on ebay that is only $225, would that be of decent quality and why would the price vary that much? Link is attached: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/FALCON-EB-ED-EF-EL-AU-XR6-HEAVY-DUTY-CLUTCH-KIT_W0QQitemZ4629457902QQcategoryZ102349QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem |

I'm sure if you ring Cam at Hightek, he'd be more than happy to answer your questions and give you some info. And considering Cams reputation and ethics (he is a good bloke full of knowledge) I doubt that they would sell any items of dubious quality. |

You can also give Mike a call at Sunbury brakes and ask him as well, a second independent opinion wouldn't hurt. Mike has hands on experience and is happy to advise you.

Clutch Industries (PBR) RPM clutchs are awsome! Never had an issue with them! We fitted one to my Vlaint. Also sold one to a mates mate who has a worked 351 in a Landcruiser and he hasn't complained at all!
