Hey fellas,
Just put a 6puk in my car about 1500k ago. whole new clutch kit, machined flywheel. new rear main seal. Done a skid last night on the 17's and a bit of clutch slip in 1st. Its ok if you rev the s**t out of it and dump but try being gentle to it and it slips. Need some tips on adjusting the clutch perfectly. Wondering if the cable is stretching? Its only about 10.000k old. and was running standard clutch until 6puk went in. Done a search and something about pedal being 140mm from the floor or something? Im over clutch troubles...

Check pedal box where clutch pedal goes on. I had numerous problems with slipping clutches no matter what kit I used and it turned out to be the pedal box flexing too much because it was cracked. Also dud you get a pressure plate that is suited to a button clutch cause they require a higher surface pressure due to no fiction point.

Contaminated friction plate? leaky rear main or input shaft?
6 puck should have copious amounts of bite!

Everything is brand new, flywheel was machined, pressure plate cleaned down before install. new rear main seal. possibly could be input shaft but highly unlikely as box still had 2litres of fluid in it when it was pulled out to replace clutch.
Can anyone tell me, where does pedal sit etc when its adjusted properly?

the pedal normally sits about 5-10mm higher then the brake pedal.
or you can adjust the clutch so it engages as close to the floor as possable. proving there is no clutch drag and you can select all gears... if it still slips after that? the clutch is s**t or has oil on it or something??? |

Ok so gave it a bit of adjusting, so far so good. got clutch pedal just slighty higher than the brake pedal. this sound about right?
revs dont change when clutch either on or off in nuetral so guessing no drag, where as before it did change a bit so maybe is was half a** adjusted from day one, which wouldnt suprise me. old "noel" adjusted it assuring it was a-ok. So yeah hopefully problem solved. let me know if something dont sound right. cheers guys

dont have the pedel too high other wise you'll end up streching the cable and you'll end up like what happened to me and it snaps in traffic i did the manual conversion and the 4 month old clutch cable streched and broke becourse of a too higher pedel. keep an eye on the clutch cable outlet, if you see cracks get it welded and make up a re-enforcment plate (theres a guide on here somewhere).

yeah dont know how to measure it properly but its a little higher than the brake pedal.
checked pedal box, its sweet. malwood pin looks sweet. firewall looks sweet. think it just needed adjusting going from new to worn in... normal wear and tear im hoping. might get one of fiends firewall plates at somestage just to beef the firewall up a bit
