as some of you may know every since i got my car i've been having problems with tyre wear, and i was about to go buy a K-mac camber kit and fix it up as i know that this is a problem with alot of e series cars, but just as i was about to buy one and get it fitted LTDHO said to me i should just get a wheel alignment done, i thought most likly just a waste of time, but i had to get my front tyres changed over even tho they were only 4,000 km's old and already bold on the outside.

So i got a alignment done and tyres changed over today (just got back from there) and the 1st thing i said to the guy that did it was, it didn't align up did it?, and he goes nah, it aligned up but it was way out, and next thing i thought was wonder how long it will last tho!, but i said to him cool, i thought i needed a camber kit, coz i know thats a problem with these cars, and he goes yeah it is, but your has a camber kit......., i couldn't belive it i was about to buy a camber kti for a car that already had one!

this is the print out they gave me on how it was before and after:

Total toe* Was: +13.7mm Now: 2.1mm

Half toe max dif* Was: LH:+6.00mm RH:+7.7mm Now: LH:+1.00mm RH:+1.1mm

Camber Max dif* Was: LH:-00'32' RH:-00'43' Now: LH:-00'55' RH:-00'45'

there was king pin angle, symmetry error, steering angle at 20', etc etc, the was was out and stuff to, but most people don't know what that stuff means anyway, plus really can't be stuffed writing it in, lol.

But i gotta go back there im missing a Chrome valve cap i'll go back and ring there neck!, lol

Moral of the story: have the wheel alignment and tyre balance checked regularly :P

Unless your tyres are not wearing at an excessive rate.

I've only once done a wheel alignment after I smacked a kerb while testing a new LSD in my old Skyline and getting a wee bit too excited. Mind you I fitted a new lower control arm and radius rod since the old ones were a little bit out of shape :)

I dont bother unless tyres are unevenly wearing, then again I dont let women drive my cars and therefore wheels dont go out of alignment as a result of kissing kerbs while parking (only power induced oversteering though :))

i just hate it when i get new tyres, get them to do a balance and alignment and then drive away and the flaming thing is all over the road and the steering vibrates out of my hand when i hit 100k/hr....

A while ago I use to have that problem when driving at about 113km/h did about 2 wheelbalances before a decent Tyre Mechanic said that the Tyres themselves were too worn down and no good. I ended up getting 2 new Tyres for the front and no shakes or anything after that

I found no matter what I did I always got bad outer wear.. Got the camber kit and it still happened. It wasn't until I had about -1 camber that it stopped wearing. :shock:

Mine does that every time it gets a wheel alignment :evil: I think the Ford specs are wrong, or I've got a bent rod somewhere.....

Well, you tend to get a lot of outer wear when you barrel into corners, and if you get a camber kit, it tends to suggest you do a lot of barreling into corners..... am I right, or am I proving the point that assumption is the mother of all f**k?

I get my alignments done every 10K or if I feel its off (maybe after a hard drive/cruise). I ONLY take it to the place that did my lowering/hndling kit. They get ALL the local Porsche and Merc dealers business, and after my experience with them, I'll keep going back. They do a great job.

It's scary as I can feel as little an error as .2mm in camber or toe, I'm no good a feeling cator though. I rock up to the place, and say it's out to the left, they line it up, and bingo .2mm left toe in. Must be all the damn round-a-bouts here.

yeah well mine was pulling to the left to, so looks like it may just be a commen mistake with these cars.

and i do have to admit i do go round corners fast, and i might just have to make mine -2 aswell after, im not sure yet, i'll see how it goes more for a few weeks if i notice they wear on the outside still i'll adjust it more and more till it stops.

cars are meant to pull to the left a little, so when you fall asleep, you dont go hitting anything coming towards you. Just houses poles and trees

It shouldnt be a huggggggge pull to the left, in fact, it shouldnt even pull

more a 'wander'

my old man spent months getting his EB right, turned out a belt in the tyre had seperated a little. Mr Bob Jane refunded his last 5 wheel alignments, sucked his C**k a bit and replaced a f**k tyre 10 000ks old. Top Blokes.

i've always understood that the set them slightly to the right to counteract the road being higher in the middle, and the car naturally drifting to the left.
