theres no problem with a falcon pump, unlike the commodres with a remote reseviour. a dyno run wont cause a pump to leak, but a hot engine bay will. i did rebuild pumps and racks for a couple of years at my last job and can tell you after doing about 1000 vt racks n pumps i only ever fit 2 au racks excluding accident damaged ones.
but if its leaked out that fast its probably a hose, but if not and you rebuild the pump again yourself get a high temp seal kit , should have brown o-rings not black ones. the belt tension wont cause it to leak providing you didn't leaver on the cannister to get the tension, have seen this done before, bent cannister causing leaks from the rear o-ring. |

that is the high preassure hose, the stell hose has an o ring on it and it connects, clicks in, to the big bolt which has another oring on it and it srews into the pump.
your best of getting it rebuilt by hose place, or getting a new one, pricey though. as the internal oring usually goes once you take it off a couple of times. i don't know why it crumbled.

best to flush the system if pieces of the o-ring is in there, the big bolt you refer to part of the valve, then there is the spring and then the valve. the valve has a small, fine gauze filter on it and can get blocked by the smallest things. when it gets blocked you will notice your steering getting heavier until it doesn't work again. you can use dex111 fluid in those systems but ford uses a clear fluid, dear as poison from ford, but i use fuchs utto 1220 or 1240 or something can't quite remember at the minute. same stuff but is a cheaper option.

When my pump was leaking it turned out to actually not be the pump, just the high pressure hose.
