I remember removing some track rods from an LTD with a 9" diff from around the 1973-74 models (dont know the model code). They mounted on top of the diff housing under specially shaped U-bolts forwards to mountings on the sub-frame.. You would need to work out the angles and new mounting points on the car you were attaching them to. Remember that the old leaf spring models had the dampers mounted on the inside of the springs, not on the outside as they are now, so they may not be able to fit later model cars. At the time , we fitted them to an XB fairmont coupe (with not many leaves in them!) and they stopped a lot of the spring flex under hard take-offs with a 302w, top-loader and 3.5 diff gears.

I've heard them called both names.. but I would call the ones that are attached to the ends of the U-bolts under the springs tramp rods as all that they do is limit axle tramp under hard acceleration, whereas the ones I was talking about control axle twist under acceleration and braking. They also don't look as obvious and ugly. :)
