Was checking out a Ford BA Falcon RTV today at the traffic lights after reading the other day that they have tramp rods fitted from the factory. But they looked to be above the leaf spring (or at least the peice that I assumed were the tramp rods) - I thought they went below the leaf spring though?
Was looking through the Redline catalogue the other day and they used to do some universal fitting Chrome Tramp Rods, but there no longer avaliable from them. http://i15.ebayimg.com/01/i/05/ae/7e/53_1_b.JPG |

Yep you spotted the factory tramp rod.
XB GT (XA GT or XC Cobra??) and XD ESPs also had factory tramp rods, the ubolts clamped it to the diff housing and the other end was bolted to the chassis rail.

Would these retro fit to my wagon or have Ford actually changed the leaf spring/diff?

No idea if they will fit, I have been meaning to check this out for myself.

IIRC the rod mounts on the diff were welded on, which means you'd have to find an XA-XD diff with the brackets on it and either swap it into your wagon, or get the mounts either copied or transferred, then you'd have to get the brackets that were welded to the rear subrame transferred over

They wereNOT welded on as I have a set that I have on one of my XC toys work reasonably well but the homemade ones on my GTHO work better

And i would think if you did carry huge amounts of weight all the time you wouldnt need tramp rods, not the other way around. Maybe we could make our own pretty easy?. Its just steel

Well from having a genuine XB GT (JG66 )and seeing a few genuine XD ESPs the mounts on the diff were not welded on, the ubolts clamped that bracket down.
