Just wondering if the trans cooler lines that go to the radiator, do they already have a flared end that i can push a rubber hose over and seal properly,
or if the lines have a "screw in" fitting thats fixed permanantly on the end of the lines which means i gotta cut them off |

I'm not sure if the screw in fittings for the rad are permanently mounted to the lines....

im hoping not, but really dont want to undo them, then find out i need to buy a flaring tool & pipe cutter
i assume the ends are flared, but not too sure if the thread fitting can slide back far enough out of the way to slip a rubber hose over the end |

I am 98% sure the ends are flared, however it has been awhile since I had a radiator out.

yeah, their definitely flared. Their the same as brake line fittings. Except their only single flared where brake line fittings are double flared.

cheers, from what i read, single flares wont make a good seal
will the screw fitting be able to be pushed back far enough though? i want to bypass the radiator into my new trans cooler, and dont wantt o much around with citting and flaring lines if i can get away using the existing ones. Ive heard making a good flare isnt as easy as it looks |

You can buy an adapter to screw onto the existing cooler line nut that has a serrated section built onto it - the hose pushes over it, then held on with a hose clamp. They are made specially for BTR cooler kits. Some cooler kits supply them, but are available from most trans places seperately..
Saves cutting & flaring your original pipes. |
