G'day there everyone.. Have a couple of quick questions i hope some one might have an answer for.. Have just bought a 1999 AU XR8 auto sedan, has only 131,000 km on the clock and in almost showroom conditon inside and out.. I have read a bit on the web saying that the auto transmission in these cars are prob going to give trouble at around 170,000km. Does any know if this is correct? And if so is it worh while rebuilding or is there another trnasmissin the will fit.. Hope someone will have the answers..
Cheers

welcome to fordmods brute_xr i wouldnt be worried about the auto. if you just service it every 50,000km's?. as far as a better replacement malwood can retro fit the BF 6 Speed auto for around 6k fitted or just get another 4 speed from a wreckers...

Au v8 autos do need lots of regular servicing to keep them alive, the one i got was already stuffed at 127000.
So if it works fine and has an external trans cooler just service it and it will be fine.
