Tried searching but to no avail. Does anyone know how to trick the Auto ECU to run like a manual one? I thought it'd be different to I6s as V8s have a separate TCM. When auto isn't there fans run all the time.

Idle resistor and trans temp resistor like the I6's. TCM can be disconnected. Don't have my manuals as I'm at Wagga AFD for ECU pins - probably same as EF I6 pinouts I'd suspect.

you need to provide the tcm with the correct trans link data, which will make the fans stop, and also get rid of the torque reduction that will occur if you leave it disconnected.
I've supplied wire in modules to a few people that have done the same thing, pm me if you like... |

Can it be done without the TCM being present?
Add: Slowly finding answers on my own.. You can run without, but I read that you will lose ignition advance down low. The EEC takes away lots of advance which no one wants.

Yeah, you can run without the TCM, however you need to still provide the trans link data to the engine ecu to keep it happy, ie correct timing and fans off

- Gear position (PRND321), same specs as I6 - you may need to use the T5 neutral switch to show N & D resistances. - Trans temp link: looks like you need a 10Hz frequency, doesn't mention voltage.

Thanks snap. You're a great asset to the forum. There is a sticky in the ECU forum relating to this. I missed it for some reason. I followed up on that and made a few changes since a few things are different. I'll let you know how I go.

Thanks mate. Banarcus covers it pretty much - I've added a few things to that thread. As mentioned, to simulate the trans temp frequency, it may be best to retain the TCM.
