need to get some ideas on doing a two piece driveshaft for a ED.
There has been a mention on the forum that some pursuit E series had two piece driveshafts. Has anyone ever seen one or is this just an urban myth.

Untrue unfortunately, coppers and XR's got balanced single piece aloooooominum tailshaft's as opposed to the standard thin walled steel shafts on GLi's, Fairmont's etc etc.
We must be connected telepathically somehow haha! I was thinking about exactly the same thing the other night, about implementing a two piece tailshaft, but i was going to measure up a Commodore sedan tailshaft and see how that could be modified to fit. I work for a Holden dealership, so can get these reasonably cheaply. Making up mounting points on the chassis for the centre bearing/CV shouldn't be much of a problem, just knock together a few mounting points and weld it all up. Hopefully the tailshaft itself will be 'too long', that way it will be easier and possibly cheaper to shorten a section of the shaft as opposed to lengthening it. I'll run a tape measure over a Commodore on a hoist tomorrow and see what i can find out. |

I think OED666 on AFF had a custom made 2 piece tailshaft.
