You must have had a good set then ... mine haven't been the best ... but they are OK for work ... they have gotten noiser .. and squirm too much through corners (which i found out is due to being a narrow 235 compared to previous tyres). Next time I will put slightly wider all-round ... but they were awful when first put on the car after several balances and alignments ... there was still slight wobble from them. In the end it sorted itself out after they wore in a bit ... but have been told it's difficult to align an oval tyre ... hee hee ... apparently the majority of the NSIIs aren't "round". You must have been lucky and got one of the round ones .... LOL

I run toyo's. They are silica based tyre so they good for wet wheather grip without needing a ultra soft compound. Dont get the directional tread as they wear a bit faster.

What major chains sell Federal Tyres? They are not advertised in SA...

not sure if they are available here. i'd never heard of them until i bought my current car, which has them on it. i bought the car from n.s.w. though. the tyres are o.k. but very soft so they don't last that long. front and rear were same when i bought it and about 3000km later the rears are nearly done while the fronts are still about 60%. mind you, this is my first v8 and it makes such a nice sound that i like to hear it all the time. the fact that it goes o.k. too doesn't help.

I've just worn out some yoky A539s thought they were very good got about 60000km out of them. Good grip too. Got firestones now with 17" rims the guy told me they wont have as much grip but will last longer. seems to handle better but yokys were on 15" rims.

im using bridgestone eager sf-340. not a cheap tyre,($192 each). But the handling i get with them makes it worth while.

I use the Nankang NS2 on my Xr6 19x8 all round and for a low end to mediumish level tyre they go quite well....found them pretty good in the wet for grip...

a539's were a damn good tyre. won a couple of tyre tests done in magazines. they have been superceded by yoko c-drive's which although pricey, would be well worth it if they are anything like the a539's
