just out of curiousity, what sort of pressures are ppl running in their 17x8's or close to?

Well depends on what you are using the car for.

Genrall driving, about 40 psi to save fuel.

But If I go to a rack day I drop mine down to about 28 psi rear, 26 psi front.
The car handles way better, grips more in the corners instead of sliding.

But I recon the wear rate would be much higher.
