My inlaws very kindly volunteered to drop off one of my car's wheels to have a puncture repaired (I start work very early in the morning) - and apparently the guy at the tyre place was a real prick and gave them a hard time about the tyre having "illegal profile" - I intend to go in there and tear this clown a brand shiny new a***hole but figured I'd get my facts straight first.

The wheel is the factory EB XR8 mag wheel - the tyre is 225/60R15

- is this illegal??

I've considered that perhaps he might have meant the depth of the tread - but altho getting a bit down there's definitely more than the 3mm I thought was legal - also there are very obvious depth/wear blocks which have not been reached yet - there's about 3mm of tread ABOVE those blocks.

wha? :? thats a pretty standard, if not bigger profile! not that its any of his business anyways, hes being paid to fix a puncture not comment on the legality of the tyre!

I run 235/60R15 on my 88EA that has the original Snowflakes on it, they are 15 x 7's. The tyre guy's a peanut.

Tyre profile what a wanker. A 225/60R15 has about the same circumference as a 205/65R15 and is also pretty close to a 195/75R14 which by the way is also about the same as a 235/45R17. The list can go on but these are common sizes. Tell the d***head to pull his f*cken head in.

mate, the guy fobbed your inlaws off, probably had bigger fish to fry than a puncture. It's not the right thing to do but hey there are some a**hole out there that practise this method.

Thanx guys - I'll be dropping in and having a word with this guy and/or his supervisor next week. I'm pretty sure he was wanking himself off about the tread depth - but he definitely carried on about it by saying "the profile is illegal" (and as I said, the tread is fine in any case) - he wasn't even trying to sell a new tyre - the guy was simply being a real f**k pig.

These 225/60R15's actually give me absolutely 100% accurate speedo.

unless the puncture is in the sidewall, then that would be illegal to repair that....

I'd personally take it somewhere else though... If they don't want to do it, then stuff em. Better of paying someone else to do it.

Take it somewhere else and then go into the place and talk to his boss... then the boss will know they lost a customer... no matter how little the job...

Oh they repaired it ok but my beef is how rude this d***head was to my inlaws - I think they should have told him to screw himself but they just took it and still left the wheel for repair - I have to emphasise that this guy was REALLY rude! My son was with them and reckoned he was virtually threatening - like he wanted to call cops or something (f**k psycho). He was getting off on abusing some old folks he knew wouldn't fight back - we'll se how he feels about speaking to a real cranky 120kg / 6 foot bastard in a few days

If he does throw a punch, he'll just end up being someones b**ch behind bars. the A-hole will just end up like a loose flat tyre. LOL
