gday all

just wondering, im chaseing some rubber to fit my 15 inch rims.
The tyre itself reads 215/60 this has something do do with width and sidewall size correct?

if this is so will a 215/80 fit these rims?
reason im asking is becuse some came up cheap in the qoukka

if anyone chould tell me it whould be appriciated

cheeres

Dont put on 80 series as this is a 4WD and I dont think they will fit under the guards.

okay...

The 215 is the width of the tyre from side to side, and the 60 is the side profile of the tyre wall. Nothin, i repeat NOTHING over 65 series for a sedan, unless you like the feel of rolling around corners and problems with guard and guard lip rubbing

the profile is a % of the width, not a fixed size.

so 215/60, as 215mm of tread, and the sidewall is 129mm

The 215/80, has the same 215mm of tread, but the side wall is now 172mm.

This means the tyre is overall larger. So even if it did fit it'd screw up your speedo/odometer a lot (14%).

You're not allowed spacers - they're illegal.

Well that's legally ok then.

But I still wouldn't. They're illegal because they're unsafe (because the wheel nuts have significantly less 'bite' onto the studs, and you're moving the load on the studs to the very end of them).
