Must admit, times are bloody tough right now. *shakes fists at banks*

I have bought 2 sets of Yokohama's and loved them. A drive R1's were fantatastic in performance but being directional were very noisy. When it was time to replace them I "upgraded" to a C drive and love those too. It feels about 5% less agressive performce but very quiet and never have to worry about them in any task I demand.
Ill ride a push bike until I can afford good quality rubber.

I have Roadstone N9000 in 245/40R18 and they are fantastic in the wet or dry!
$242 each fitted was down the cheaper end of the scale too! |

Found thi about the Mayruns, if the advertising can be believed!?
The superb wet and dry handling is competitive with some of the best UHP summer tyres available but the asymmetric pattern Mayrun MR800 also has twice the winter performance of the typical summer UHP tyre. The best technological advances in profile design, construction, tread pattern and tread silica compound have been applied together in one state-of-the-art Mayrun tyre. The result is a sophisticated tyre that provides excellent handling in all waether conditions, along with an advanced cutting-edge appearance. Have been to many suspension places and had no luck - at least they didn't hit me up for camber kits or other gear, but last week I had to change tyres and now the Lane is Gold - steering is fantastic - ruts what ruts? shows you the difference between a set of cheap asian tyres and an expensive set of 245/40/18's Pirelli Rosso's. But the problem was the Pirelli's now I have a set of Mayrun 235/40/18's wtf! as Pauline Hanson said - "please explain" from $1300 a set tyres to $360 a set and the car is like new! What's your suspension alignment settings? Tramlining, is usually an indicator of toe out. A tyre with a softer sidewall will hide this somewhat (a bandaid fix, you'll wear out fronts quickly) Great for a race track, where it helps turn in greatly, but crap on rutted roads. And very bad for tyre wear. I ruined a set of fronts, in <2000km's running some serious toe out and neg camber. Inner shoulders worn though the steel belts, middle and outer like new. I now run a more neg camber, and less toe out alignment. Easier on tyres, and with semis on just as good for turn in.

Attachment: MR800-Tyre.jpg They look to be a very s**t design, they'd have to be really soft to be as good as they say. That's the sort of tread pattern you'd find on a Taxi or bombadore Omega. It doesn't have enough channels to clear water effectively*, nor big enough tread blocks for 'semi' like dry grip. *although theres a few circumferential channels, so that's a plus.

Pirelli Rosso's were probably harder compound. Never heard of Mayrun, but they are probably soft and may wear out sooner. Softer will sometimes run much more smoothly compared to the harder compound...obviously. In saying that, deflating harder compound 1 or 2 PSI makes a bit of a difference. actually. other way around. the Pirelli's would've been softer, making them actually grip and follow the road. these cheap crap Mayruns, s**t they'd be a good tyre. hard as s**t, last ages but try take a corner quick and you'll end up going straight
