did he just install it or rebuild and install it? if he just installed it then im affraid he is within his rights to be dening responsibilty as its a second hand diff. Its is a hum or a grinding sound? it might be wheel bearings if its a grinding sound, if its more like a hum the it means the pinion gear has to be reshimmed and aligned correctly.

btw there was nothing wrong with my old diff apart from 330kms of use. i mainly wanted the discs ,abs tone wheels and sensors. which we discussed a lower km diff was a bonus ,he agreed i would have a smick a*** end for 550 then they changed the tail shaft for another 200 b cause they thought that might have been a problem .then they said there was nothing else they could do.

it sounds like it could be a few things... check to see if the bolts are tight on the tailshaft flange, check the condition of the uni joints, check to see if the balance weights are still on the tailshaft. also rock the tailshaft back and forth (clockwise / anti clockwise) with the car in neural on stands. this will allow you to feel any play in the crown wheel and pinion gear. How low is your car???? i had my falcon SIX yes SIX inches lower in the a*** and i had to modify the rear shock towers to except the lowered height even with lowered shocks and even then the tial shaft would only hit the floor on big bumps!

FK mate if he doesn't know what a pinion gear is and how to shim them take it to someone who knows there s**t... fkn retards. I had problems when i got my diff done too they said it would take two days and they had it for two weeks. I didn't want them driving my car so i took the diff out and gave it to them (would of had to come out anyway) and i ended up haveing to buy another diff to get my car on the road while i waited for them to finish it. d**k.

so you checked the bush in the extention houseing? (the back of the gearbox) and it was ok? the tailshaft has no sideways movement at the gearbox? is it a auto or manual? check your crossmenber rubber for signs of movement on the gearbox crossmember.
