hey guys I've recently notice a vibration in me EL XR6 at idle in drive its pretty noticeable in drive and not as bad in reverse but when driving its gone and its doesn't do it park or netural. so im sort of guessing its torque converter related but I could be wrong. so im wondering if anyone has come across this before?

I was thinking it might be the engine mounts but it doesnt do it in park or neutral.

thats because there is no load on the drivers side engine mount in neutral, put it in drive and the engine will push down on the engine mount with load

if the vibration is annoying enough yes, if not then its will be ok to hold the engine to the body just wont be smooth etc.

pretty sure the left one goes before the right one, but its alway best to replace both at the same, otherwise you could wine up having to replace the other one later on if you unlucky and repco have a pair for like $200 or so cant really remember has I haven't change my, just want I've read on here.

Usual failure is on the right side due to heat from the exhaust, worse if you have extractors. If you have the round style mounts it will be worse.
You don't need to change both if they are the round style. I replaced the right side on my EF Mont over 5 years ago and the left is still fine. Replaced the Right on the EL Wagon about 2 years ago and the left is still good. The right side is easier to change than the left. Undo the retaining bolt, pull it out, undo the top retaining nut, jack up the right side of the engine (use a peice of wood under the sump and be careful you don't damage the sump) pull out the offending mount. Install is the reverse. Job done. |

yeah got a price from repco they wanted $220 just for one so I end up going to bursons and only got the one $127.60 which I think it is the better choice
