Hello all,
I've got a 96 EFII Falcon 6cyl AUTO Sedan. Whilst stationary with the transmission in Drive I have a vibration. Kind of feels like bad idle. When in neutral it goes away. The idle is fine though. There dosen't seem to be any vibration whilst driving. Was thinking it could be the rear engine mount??? or is it called a transmission mount its the one above the extension housing either way has anyone had this same problems. The transmission can be moved left to right slightly whilst holding the tail shaft. (don't know if this is normal.)
I did a quick search for MOUNT but nothing to helpful came up.
If it helps the car has been lowered slightly (Stage 1 using King springs)
The harmonic ballancer has just been replaced due to a it moving 5 - 10mm movement forward causing the drive belt to rub against the drive belt tensioner.
The car has done 210,000km
I've tried to give a much information as possible.
Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Thanks guys.

What does you RMPsit at, when idle in drive and in Park. you have a base idel , you might need to turn it up a little by the sounds of it.

also might haev to clean the idel sensor!

2 bolts which are i think 10mil located ontop of the throttel body.

hope this helps

cheers kyle

I've adjusted the base idle. The only way i can stop the vigration is to have the idle considerably high. The cars got a new ISC, the idle in park is 850rpm in drive about 700 - 750.

Thanks

drop the idle down to about 600 in drive. and see if it shutters.

also under the impression the EF engine mounts are not quite as nice as the EL ones - so perhaps they might be the issue if they are worn? :?

seams high for the idle speed, id check engine & gearbox mounts, even a vacume leak.

Could aslo be the torque converter, seeing as it's only doing it in drive with the brake on.
Mine has begun to make a kind of 'piece of metal rolling around in a tin can noise' under the same circumstances, and I think someone on here (opto perhaps?) had a similar problem.

had an ea at work the other day with a simmilar sounding problem, on inspection found that the flex plate was rivitered to the ring gear and had come loose. with the inspection plate still off the car drove round to exhaust shop and had them tack it back on in a few spots, whala vibration was gone.
