Hey guys,

Just had a fully rebuilt T5 installed into my EF, just wondering how I should go about wearing it in? Any tips?

Cheers all,

No real wear in process just drive it normaly for around 1 week in other words no slapping gears and the box should be good to go. The clutch needs to bed in though if it is new the worst thing you can do on a new clutch is thrash it they need to bed in via normal driving so that the clutch meshes with the flywheel properly, thrashing a new clutch will induce excessive hot spots on the flywheel. Change the oil in the box afer 1 month too just to get rid of any fillings/ metal residue in the oil. Don't be allarmed if there is alot of metal residue in that oil that is pretty normal in the first oil change. ALSO if you have not already got a short shifter WITH ADJUSTABLE STOPS on the box i would suggest doing that ASAP this will stop you beaking the second gear syncro ring from over selecting second gear. If you don't plan on smashing second gear though the standard shifter is fine. Also use Transmax Z transmition fluid it is an auto fluid but it is the most highly recconended oil for a t5. Enjoy
