Ok. So I have a 92 eb.
I want to get a lsd.
Or some better diff gears.
Or both...
What do you guys reckon is best?
I do a fair bit of driving. A lot at highway speeds soi don't want my car revving its tits off.
Thinking about 4.47 or something around there.
Is this a good ratio.
And how would I go about getting it done and about how much.

get 3.45 or 3.7 if you are going to do highway driving and still have a decent take off.

4.47 is way too short.

3.7's if you do some highway work(being in dorrigo im guessing you do). 3.9's or 4.11's for mostly city driving.

This is all presuming you have a 4 speed auto.

standard e series 6cyl lsd centre will suffice, a set of pintara 3.7's will wake things up without reving the tits off the car. 4.11's will be just a bit too tall to use on a highway on a regualr basis, someone else will confirm this but from memory 4.11's will have the car at about 3000rpm at 110km/h too high on a long run. 3.7's will sit about 2700rpm I think.

3.45 is around 2100rpm @110, so around 2500rpm @ 110 for 4.11's. E-Series and AU 6 cyl and V8 LSD's are the same.

ford-4l-and-6-cylinder-f1/please-read-before-posting-in-this-forum-t42571.html

Greetings all

It has been something we have struggled with since the forum's inception... from new members and long termers alike.

The problem of which i speak, is the use of the 6 Cylinder Workshop to discuss non 6 Cylinder related issues. We understand the reasons why - most of the Falcons are 6 Cylinders and hence this forum tends to be the most used.

But please consider the following before posting in this forum.

The 6 Cylinder Workshop is intended for issues relating to the Ford 6 Cylinder engines. It is NOT a place for non-engine related queries, so please DO NOT post such queries in here purely because your vehicle has a 6 Cylinder engine.

A few tips:

-Brake related topics - belong in the Gearbox, Suspension, Brake and Driveline Workshop
-Squeaky suspension noises - belong in the Gearbox, Suspension, Brake and Driveline Workshop
-Questions relating to automatic and manual transmissions (inlcuding most conversion issues) - belong in the Gearbox, Suspension, Brake and Driveline Workshop

Please consider "is this specific to my engine's configuration?" before starting new topics in this forum.

Regards
Martin

what 5 speed are you using Troy? the EA/EB1 T5 got a different 5th gear. samftr had an EA T5 in his EF with a 3.08 diff and was revving higher @100 than my old ED XR6 with an EB2 onwards T5 and 3.45's

EA's had either 2.92:1 ( series 1 ) or 3.08:1 diffs ( series 2 ).

the '88 wagoon had 2.92 lsd [& is manual] - the '88/'89 sedans have 2.77 [3sp auto's] - the '90 sedan has 2.23 lsd [4sp auto] - the '91 EB sedan has 3.23 [4sp auto]

when i saw what the '90 had i checked em all [except the '93 ... hasn't come home yet]

dunno what the '93 EB has got yet [4sp auto]

all except the '93 are 3.9

or are you saying the manuals only came with the 2.92/3.08?
