so i am looking to lower my BA in a week and i called my insurance (SGIO) to check out what cover i had if i went through with it. There poicy is:
no more than 30mm below stock (i was looking at 50mm) any part of the underbody must be above 100mm (that's the law so no complaints) no more than 1/3 the original bump stop (no worry that is law) can't be chopped (law) can't be heated (pretty sure it's law) can't change the springs now the last one absolutely baffled me as to lower it you need to change springs . the only way i could think to interpret it is that you can't ONLY change the springs you must change shocks as well. what do you all think? considering i can only afford to change springs at the moment i will have to hold out and/or change insurance companies which i don't want to do cos our family have a good discount with SGIO and i only paid insurance about 3 weeks ago for the year. ring them up again and ask them to specify what they mean by that statement! It is the only way you can be 100%

Rhyso was gonna say what do they mean no changes to springs ??? gonna make it hard if u went lower shocks the car would actually be worse to handle are unsafe if the shocks were quite abit shorter...end up with almost or fully compressed coils and no give.

ok so i called again today and got a guy who knew what he was talking about, policies he explained to me were the springs must be fully enclosed and not fall out even if you car is jacked up so at full extension and the one i was puzzled about...you MUST change springs, no chopping or heating.
now if i get it dropped 30mm they new springs should not fall out with stock shocks should they? Rhyso
