hey everyone. I went to the thomastown market today cause i was told someone was selling monroe shocks that would suit my EL. Anyways i found the guy that was selling them because he sold his business to sme other company and is selling all the old stock that the new company does not sell. Therefore all the monroe shocks had to go.
I asked the guy if they would suit lowered springs without bottoming out and he said they would. but im not sure so i asked him to keep the shocks for me till next week and i might buy them. Just wondering what the model number of shock would suit King Springs Super lows for the rear and King Springs Lows for the front? and whats the usual price for them? btw another question...i have read some of the previous threads and now getting confused.....by having super lows on the rears and lows on the front the car would sit even? but if u have a gas tank and having lows on the rear and super lows on the front would make that sit even? ive seen some people put super lows on the rear and ultra lows on the front to make it sit even so now im puzzled. cheers phong =P~

Your superlows will need shorter shockers. Monroe do not make a shorter shocker for falcons. They list a shorter shocker but it is the same part number as the standard length shocker. These shocks will not trap your superlows!

Will the front shocks trap the low king springs that im getting? or should i just get another brand of shocks such as pedders?

They probably will fit the front, trapping the springs is not a problem at the front because it is a strut setup that is compressed anyway. But I didnt go through this excercise on the front, only the rear. I would imagine that the front shocker would be shorter for shorter springs to maintain shocker travel. BTW dont forget to use bump stops on the rear.

i just looked up some shockers......Konis, KYB and pedders.....are the only other brands i know that make shockers for lowered cars....how much would each cost? cause i want to buy it all out......found the monroe gas shocks for 180 for the set of 4 but i don't mind paying extra for a better ride and that actually will trap my springs. Im guessing Koni's adjustables are the better of the three but which one is cheaper and still does the job?
cheers phong =P~

have you looked at the monroe website to see if they have an online catalogue?
Are they the Sensatrac or GTGas Reflex models that your wanting a part number forr? Off thee top of my head, not that it is any help, thee part number for Sensatracs for a standard hheight rear of e-series sedan is 17-0202. |

Since monroes won't trap my super lows there isn't really any point in going with them? or do u have another opinion? phong =P~

With ultra low springs in rear and supers in front....I still have the standard height shockers.....its not goign to do any damage, so you still be able to run your springs until you get the money.....but me personally would suggest the koni's, they may end up being a little (or alot) extra,
but trust me, after driving an EF with standard shockers and lowered springs(mine) to diving another EF with shorter shocks and lower springs, you will really really really notice a diff...... the ride is just sooooo much better....and yes, the springs will be trapped, unlike mine when i jack up the rear(after struggling to get jack uner there) the springs just about fall out...if it wasnt for the shockers being in the way

King springs told me that for super lows you use standard height shockies, but for ultras you use shortened ones.
Of course if you get better shockies your car will handle better.. but to suit the super lows, they'll still be the same height. |
