i have a eb xr6 and am looking to change diff ratio to either 3.7 or 3.9. The car runs xr8 18s and i am wondering if you think the 3.9s are ok for ocasional highway driving, also the car is a manual. thanks. also i beleive that the ratio in the car is a 3.23 is this correct as i have yet to read the diff tag thanks.

mate drop in a 3.45 best for accel and cruise
if not worried about fuel a 3.7 is the way!

3.7's would be good, 3.9's no so good ive heard e-series manuals prefure 3.7's over 3.9's, im sure that will start a debate, (i think i read it in ff yesterday not sure...) |

for a manual ild say the 3.7s for everyday driving, however for a straight line race i still rekon the 3.9 will be a bit better(assuming you have good tires).

3.9 would be over kill for a manual. Youd no soon gripup and it would be time to shift.
3.7 is a good comprimise.

i have 3.9's in mine but its auto. every now and then i'm tempted to price up 4.11's.
the issue with yours is the 1st gear ratio of the manual. a lot shorter than the auto. cruising at 100 it would rev at close to 2500rpm as well which doesn't bother me as even though i go through a 100 zone on the way to work its only about 5km's or so. other than that it does the occasional highway trip and depending on exhaust setup will determine the noise level inside. mine doesn't really drone at all. is loud though but its an 8 and thats always a nice soundtrack.
