ive had pedders sports ryder gsr front and rear for the past 2 and a bit years and imo there fantastic still after all this time the car feels very positive on the road. controls body roll and handles corners extremely well.

i've got the whiteline springs with BOGE shockers in the front and KYBs in the back. Car is really smooth but handles better than you could ever imagine!!
The front feels better than the back, but thats probly more to do with the car than the shocks. I would say BOGEs are good. Konis and Bilsteins would be better again, depends on budget i spose |

Yeh i dont want to go 2 crazy on the suspension but i set myself a budget of $1000.00 for spring and shock all round with fitting.

low or super low kings springs $220-260 anywhere (someplaces fitted)
.munroe lowered sport shocks and struts $119rear $110 front or vice versa, autobahn . so 500 for parts you might need a bush or 2 3-4 hrs labour at your mechanic so @$ 750 fitted |

Over here I paid just under 600 for king spring all round with boge shortened shockies.... I am neighbours with the owners but still shouldnt cost more than that really....
Ride aint exactly perfectly smooth but Im happy with the setup.

Alright I reckon I'm qualified to answer this.
I had Monroe GT Gas shocks in my EF GLi with King springs superlow. Ride was fairly stiff (which I love) because of the shocks but the front to back height I wasn't happy with due to King springs. The front looked 10-15mm higher on the wheel arch and although it was only cosmetic because measuring the height from the sill to the ground the car was level I didn't like it. Next car I did was my EL Fairmont Ghia V8. I went with Bilstein shocks and Lovell springs. Ride was smooth, not as hard as with the Monroe shocks. On any bump it was only once compression and one extension on the shock. A very comfortable ride. The springs gave the car a good height (superlow again) and was level front to back. On my XR6 I went the full treament and did sway bars and bushes at the same time and got Koni shocks and Lovell springs. Car handles great. The Koni shocks have 3 grooves to allow for 3 different heights for the springs. Yet again I went superlow. They are adjustable shocks and can go rock hard if you like but they wear quicker. On my XR8 the suspension was already done. I know it has Konis but I don't know what spring although I know they are superlow. Its the best handling and best ride car out of the lot. Sway bars are standard as well. So I would go for Monroe for a hard ride, Bilsteins for handling and comfort or adjustable Konis if you can't make up your mind. Springs I would stay away from King springs because the difference in height from front to back may annoy you. |

I reckon I have spent more than $7000 on 3 EF/EL Falcons.
All done by professionals not by me. All had camber kits fitted as well. All my tyres whether they be 15" or 17" I run at 40psi. It also makes a difference to the ride. 15" has a bigger side wall on the tyre so the ride will be softer. I think 17" and to an extent 16" is the size you want to have to find out how the suspension is working how you want it. 18" and above it will be a harder ride and work the suspension a lot more. |
