Ok heres what i want to know! i have a EL fairmont ghia and want to lower it with standard wheels for now, but later some 17's. i have in mind some King lows and munroe gt gas struts. would this be ok or does someone know from experience that this set up is not all that good and not legal or better still higher on insurance. Just want the car about 30-40mm lower all round with a not so FLOATY drive but still comfy being a ghia. any help or suggestions would be great.

lowering it 30-40mm should still be above legal height

as long as you tell your insurance company your lowering it and its legal, shouldnt be a prob..

however.. if u dont tell them u lowered it, then get in an accident, and they find out your car is lowered, they'll pull out of paying for the accident because of failing to notify them of a modification (this happened to me and i got screwed)

King lows should be perfect for you, you'll get a lot firmer ride (no floatiness) and you shouldn't have a problem with putting 17's later on. Its the superlows that could be a worry with the 17's, but lotsa people get away with it, and others just have their guards rolled..

make sure u change ur shocks as well as springs

my main concern is keeping my premiums the same, so 30 mm should be ok i hope. i will be doing shocks as well. will be going for shortened ones. one more thing whats the average price for a camber kit and whats good?

I'd say you'd be looking at approx 300 fitted (dont pay more than 400, even thats a bit steep).. theres adjustable ones or not, the adjustable ones are a bit more expensive, but you probably wouldnt need it (since your not changing springs/height)..

As for whats good, im not too sure but ive heard kmac and whiteline are good..

I've got kings lows and moroe gt's on my EB plus all urethane bushes.

It rides a LOT FIRMER than stock partly due to bushes and stiff sidewalled G Grids but no hint of boatiness now.

If you dont want so firm try pedders springs (more expensive) or someone else, Whiteline seems to know what they're on about, Ive got there upper rear control arm kit and it works well.

If you want to tie it down and keep the harshness to a minimum start with bigger bars.

Stay away from superlows they're built for looks not handling (oops just opened can of worms) :wink: unless of course you are willing to re-design the whole suspension system!

Any thoughts?
