Hey guys
Changing over my front wheel bearings soon and was wondering which way the grease seal goes onto the stub axle... Here are the two possibilities. Is it the first or the second? ONE: OR TWO: Last time I did them I placed it in according to picture 1. Cheers |

if its the same as an ED, it goes facing the stub axle. sits on top of the big bearing inside the rotor. needs tapping in

Thanks for the info, so to be clear it goes on according to picture one? Which is how I fitted it last time.

if the brake rotor is on the ground with the outside facing downwards, it goes rubber side up. from your pictures i think thats #2. it sits flush in there, and the rubber side is what contacts the part the stub axle is on.

Thanks for the information mate, I think that's how it came out of the rotor when I first replaced them,

I have always tightened them with a shifter... put the two tips of the shifter on the sides of the nut so the handle sticks out sideways from the car... then grab hold of the head of the shifter and tighten it as hard as I can one handed... Seems to be just the right amount of torque one handed with such poor mechanical advantage... Works for me anyway... Otherwise, yeah the nut is large... Cheers, Tim

you're trying to get it off? It shouldn't be that tight. :/ guessing the ba are a design to ed, you have removed the split pin yeah? The hub on the ba, were prone to corroding onto the stub too. May take a fair bit of effort to get it off. and usually with the ba's i've seen... The whole hub get's replaced, not just the bearings...
Cheers, tim

Cheers, Tim i think they are 36mm nut but not 100%, in au and b series they are torqued up and they are f**k tight... so they also need to be done up to a speficic torque.. |

Cheers The rubber lip that sticks out goes against the stub axle.....it also needs to be totally seated in....if not, the rubber lip will burn off and grease will leak out, and water will get in.
