Is it a major pig to do the rear wheel bearings? I've heard its a major job.

You need the tools and knowledge to do it, if you don't, get someone who does. If you stuff it, it will cost you more than to get somebody to do it.

yea u do, if u take them out and get someone to get the old off and the new on with a press it wont cost too much. they are very f**k hard to get off. i know from experience, i had to get em off for work experience at ford.

Looks like I'll leave it to someone who does this stuff for a living...
Any ideas on how much it is likely to cost?

Sounds reasonable to me Daggy. I vaguely recall someone saying about $120.
The "whoosha whoosha" sound (which is why I'm thinking bearings) could also be the tailshaft bearing or not? Can't be the tyres or balance as I've only just had that checked out.

Mate same boat as me... i had that whoosha whoosha lol sound as u call it... i had all my suspension checked and new tyres put on 2 days b4 replacing bearings... so good chance it would be a bearing....
