Hi! I remember reading the other day about the earlier model T5s having a shorter 1st gear and having no reverse snycro - just want to confirm which model they bought in the next generation ones? Was it in the ED or did they start in the EF?
Cheers

Will an AU T5 fit an EF?

IIRC its the EBII-EL thats the same. ED will defiantly be the 'upgraded' one
AU t5 will not fit as the shifter is a little further back from memory.

EA-EB T5 is the one with shorter 1st 2nd and 3rd and 5th gears.

And it should be said that the EA/EBI T5 will still work fine in the EF. It will just have a bit more poke off the line.
It will really depend on you final drive gearing as well. The early box with a 3.23 diff will make a nice punchy combo. BenJ

yeah i have a EA T5 in mine with the standard 3.08 diff, and first gear is very short, u wont have any traction from 1st to 3rd in the wet.

Yeah not having traction is a big issue, I've got like 5 other Fords, 2 are manuals and the traction in the EA 3.9L with the T5 is pretty bad if you put your foot down in first. Would hate to see what it was like with an extra 25rwkw+ runnin through it
Is the only reason the AU T5 wont fit an EF/EL (or even earlier E-Series) because of the shifter? Is it possible to, I dunno, custom make a shift - like weld one onto the original? Just curious...

In the AU T5 the whole box is longer. The extension housing and rear output shaft are both longer.

4th is 1:1 in all falcon T5's

Falcons are weapons in the wet, it's always a great day when it's rainin and you're a Falc owner (and it's good cause work's off )
Falcons = Wet Drift Kings

sounds like you guys are lacking power!
Kings in the wet? More like a Barge in wet and dry.

I'll second that, when you want the traction in the wet you cant have it. Even in the dry when you boot it 1st gear is a whole lot of wheel spin and revs then second is wheel spin, and some grip towards top end. Falcons rock in the wet when you wanna muck around, but single spinners suck. Does anyone else with an EA T5 when engaging reverse it sometimes crunches as if your not engaging the clutch correctly?

yep mine makes a horrible noise.. i put it into 5th then into reverse, goes in alot better... 1st in the dry is a no go either, and changing into second flicks it out sideways a few times, its fun but not fast.
