I have always used the Valvoline FORMULA F POWER STEERING FLUID, but when I did a serch on the valvoline website it states I should use AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID TYPE D.

So would using the FORMULA F POWER STEERING FLUID do damage to the rack & pump?

when i had my eb xr8 i use to run dexron auto fluid as per workshop manual, which im pretty sure is type d fluid...

the only thing i would be worried about using formula f is if there is any specific differences in the fluid, using a non specified fluid might cause leaking past the seals...

Search for 'Dexron' and 'Mobilfluid'.

I'm sure there is more than enough threads covering this already.

Just go to Ford and buy the R1-424 Power steering fluid, and flush it out, using that.
It won't hurt it. I ran it in my EA, and now my ED, and the wifes TJ Magna.
It has very good high temp stability, and very good lubricating qualities.
